Introduction:
This circuit enables voltage controlled "stereopanning" actually it also creates amplitude modulation (tremelo). For signals below 200mVpp regular diodes can be used as a dc-current controlled resistor. The audio signal V2 is assumed to be on a 2.5Vdc offset.
If the common connection of the diodes is at 2.5Vdc both signals can pass and Left out equals Right out. When the common connection voltage rises diode D2 starts gradually conducting and attenuates the Right signal. When the common connection voltage drops diode D1 starts gradually conducting and attenuates the Left signal. This way the control voltage V3 can set the stereo position of the signal.
